Science Update April 26, 2010

FYI:

1. Excretory, Nervous, and Disease quiz is today.  Students were given study guides to complete that were very similar to the quiz.  We reviewed before the quiz.  Many students did not complete their study guide.

2. Progress reports are going home today.  I got 1^st and 3^rd periods out today, but now Power school is having issues.  We’ll see…

3. Many students did not complete their MySpace projects or turn in their Washington DC booklets.  These may be finished for a minimum passing grade Tuesday after school.  (parent pick up 3:45)  These were due the Tuesday we returned from spring break.  I stayed after 2 days for those needing additional time.  Students that were on task for the substitute completed the project in class during the 3 days they had to work on it.

4. BODY SYSTEM FINAL EXAM WEDNESDAY- Study guide Tuesday

5. I will be reviewing for the test during Tuesday’s help session after school.  (parent pick up 3:45)

6. MAP Testing on Friday

Science UPDATE April 12, 2010

FYI:
1. MySpace project due tomorrow. If your child signed up to stay Tuesday to finish, they may. DC students- packets are due instead.
2. Quiz Wednesday – covers circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems. They will have a study guide.
3. Report cards went home Friday and should be signed and returned to homeroom teacher by Tuesday.
4. Many students are not completing homework, please check your child’s agenda. All assignments for all classes should be written down.

Science Plan March 4, 2010

FYI:
1. I am trying to get all grades entered. New progress reports with Genetics test should go out on Monday. Students received these back 2 days ago.
2. Monday – QUIZ Skin & Bones, study guide tomorrow
3. Next Friday – TEST Skin, Bones, and Muscles, Study guide on Wednesday
4. There should be 56 entries in your child’s interactive notebook.
5. We are dissecting owl pellets tomorrow – ask your child what they found 

Science Update 18, 2010

1. We are currently studying genetics. There will be a test next Friday. A study guide will go home on Wednesday. Students should be studying nightly and practicing their Punnett Squares.
2. There are MANY students who are not completing assignments. Please speak to your child about completing all assignments, in school and out; with effort and accuracy. The lack of effort and motivation is greatly increasing.
3. I also have MANY 0% for quizzes and tests that have not been made up from absences. After Tuesday they will remain zeroes. Please plan on your child staying after on Tuesday if needed.
4. I will send updated progress reports home on Monday.
5. Students should be keeping up with their notebooks – check your child’s. There should be 40 entries.

Tuesday - Cellular Process Quiz / Gizmo Afterschool Computer Access until 4:15 (sign up 30 first come first serve)
Wedensday - Cell & Celular Process Final Exam Review / 2 Gizmos & 10 questions DUE
Thursday - Cell & Celular Process Final Exam
Friday - Start genetics
